3 Things to Do Before It Rains on Your Party

We’re enjoying all the autumn vibes here in the PNW. And for Seattle, when there’s fall, there is usually some rain. If you’re planning a big event outdoors, the last thing you want to deal with is a soggy wedding dress, or soggy sandwiches at a work luncheon, or really soggy anything. Luckily, there are 3 things you can do to prepare for stormy weather and keep your guests happy and dry. Have an Indoor Space Available This seems like a no brainer, but in the frenzy of planni

5 Important Things to Ask at Your Floral Consultation

When first sitting down to talk to your florist, it’s easy to get swept away in the designs and planning. But there are a few crucial details you don’t want to forget to go over together. Sure, you can always email it out later if you both forget one of these, but so much time and confusion can be saved by quickly talking it out while you’re together. It’s likely your florist will already be planning to talk about these things, but we’re all human and can forget a detail or t

When Texas Marries Washington : Cassie and Barron's Seattle Wedding

When you have one family coming in strong from Texas and the other representing hard from Washington, it turns out you get an event to remember. Talking through the color plans with Cassie for her bouquet was a fun conversation. The wedding themes were based off the Texas and Washington state flags. So where did that leave her bouquet colors? Well Cassie loved red anemones—a fun change of pace, as white anemones are more commonly requested. But she wanted some blue, yellow an

Erin's Bridals | Rich and Wild

Erin's bridals were all about drama and elegance. And I think she nailed it! It was a crazy-windy day and her bouquet was put through quite the test. But it held together perfectly. In fact, looking back through these pictures, the wind seems to enhance the wild essence of her bouquet. For her bouquet I picked hand-dyed silk ribbons, purchased from Seattle Wholesale Growers. The burgundy and grey highlighted the burgundy Ivanhoe Roses and the grey center of the King Protea. F

    Sarah's Bridals | Garden Luxe

I think modeling her dress and flowers came naturally to Sarah. Talk about photogenic! I could go on and on about all the things I love about her dress, (and I LOVE the comb she used in her hair), but I'm going to spare everyone the list and let them look for themselves. This last one is probably my very favorite. Photo credit: Jenna Evans Photography #floralarch #Bouquets #Bridals #Wedding

    Featured Fiori: Dahlias

I know I say a lot of flowers are "one of my favorites". But if you held my arm behind my back and asked me to pick just one, I would choose the dahlia. It comes in a variety of shapes, plenty of colors and has a perfect yet natural look about it that makes me just want to stare at it until I drool. Photo Credit: Kelly Brown Photo I've collected a handful of images for you to enjoy. Perhaps by the end you'll be as in love with them as I am. Do you have a favorite dahlia? Bunc

    Bloomin' Boutonnieres

Any man has the ability to rock a boutonniere. It all comes down to which style. Here are a few boutonnieres I've made recently. You may notice that I'm really loving the velvet and hand-dyed silk ribbons lately. I can't get enough of them. Which one is your favorite? I happen to love them all, but then... I did design them. So I'm biased. Photo credit for all of the above goes to Jenna Evans Photography. #boutonniere #Wedding

The Truth About Expensive Flowers by Allison Ellis

I thought today I would just share a video put together by the talented Allison Ellis. Allison is a designer out of Vermont who is often sought out for destination weddings in her area. She is an excellent representation of what the majority of floral designers look like: hard-working, committed and kind, but also their own business managers, marketers and planners. In this video she discusses the truth behind expensive wedding flowers and how much profit your designer is gen

Marti and Jordan | Natural and Free

I had the privilege to work with this beautiful couple. And by beautiful I mean inside and out. You honestly don't meet people like this everyday. And they're so visibly perfect for each other! I loved making Marti's bouquet. Wild and green with White Cloud garden Roses, dahlias, fringe tulips and Sahara roses. The ribbons are hand-dyed silks. In Jordan's boutonniere I used a White Bubble spray rose, with a poppy pod and sprig of Jupiter's Beard. I wrapped them up with bro

    Grace Bridals | Mountain Pastels

It's been a very busy month with four bridal bouquets and a visit to Salt Lake City. But, THIS JUST IN: Pictures from Grace's mountain-scape bridals just came in from the photographer!! I'm so excited to share them with you. I loved putting this bouquet together: soft peaches and pinks with a splash of powder blue, collared with grey dusty miller. And of course Grace's natural beauty only set them off more. Loved working with you Grace! You were lovely as ever. Photos by Jenn
